Early in 1633, Arno Vignelli visited Grantville and spent several days visiting a museum there.[1] While there, he examined a mimeograph machine, a hectograph, and the wringer from a washing machine. By combining the principles of the mimeograph and hectograph, using wringer-like rollers to move the tray, and using an inked pad, he was able to devise a simple and relatively cheap stencil duplicating machine.
