Camburg in 1632[]
In September 1631, after the Battle of Breitenfeld, the citizens of Camburg celebrated the Protestant victory. When soldiers under the Swedish flag approached the town, the townspeople allowed them in, but realized too late that they were Saxon mercenaries. Camburg was soon pillaged and nearly all of its people were robbed and killed. Lutheran Dieter Fischer was among the few that survived the sacking and later became one of Grantville's Pentecostal figures.
Even years later, at least some survivors continued to believe that their attackers were part of the Swedish army.
