Archduchess Cecilia Renata of Austria (German: Cäcilia Renata; Polish: Cecylia Renata; 16 July 1611 – 24 March 1644) was Queen of Poland as consort to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth's King Władysław IV Vasa.

Cecelia Renata in 1632[]

Note: This is the spelling Flint and DeMarce use in 1634: The Bavarian Crisis.

Like her older sister Maria Anna, Cecelia Renata learned what little Grantville's encyclopedia's had to say about her life in the original timeline. In her case, that was essentially that she had married Władysław IV Vasa of Poland, and that the marriage had apparently been so unhappy that it was remembered as such centuries later. Her brother, Ferdinand III, agreed that she would not marry Władysław.[1]

While discussing possible alternative matches, the possibility of her marrying Bernard of Saxe-Weimar was raised. When Ferdinand mentioned that Bernard was not a king, but only a duke. she noted that Don Fernando had not been a king until very recently. This may have helped to prompt Ferdinand's decision to declare himself Emperor of Austria-Hungary.
