Constantin Ableidinger was a school teacher in Frankenwinheim, Franconia. Ableidinger came from a Lutheran family of refugees out of Austria who had settled up around Coburg. He wasn't an easy man, but he kept his students disciplined and, most of the time, interested. Physically, he was a big man with a big, booming voice that could often be heard and understood even through thick doors.
Ableidinger was practical towards the time-displaced Americans from Grantville, and embraced the knowledge that came with them. Part of that knowledge was Thomas Paine's pamphlet Common Sense, which he read in German translation. He had also read at least one science fiction book; his pseudonym of "Helmut, speaking for the Ram" was an allusion to E. E. Smith's Galactic Patrol.
In the 1635 elections, he was elected as Bamberg's representative in the USE House of Commons.[1][2]
While the Ram Movement was allied with the Fourth of July Party rather than formally affiliated with it, Ableidinger was part of the FoJP's inner circle.

- ↑ 1635: The Dreeson Incident, ch. 42 refers to him being elected Vice President of the State of Thuringia-Franconia, alongside President Ed Piazza. However, later mentions refer to him as a member of the Commons, and the Piazza/Ableidinger ticket was apparently retconned away in Grantville Gazette XXXIV, "Warm Spit"
