Cory Joe Lang served as military intelligence in the USE Army and served as Frank Jackson's liaison to Don Francisco Nasi. He was widely known in Grantville as being physically powerful and quite fearsome; Harry Lefferts noted Cory as the one man from Grantville who he would avoid provoking a fight with.
Lang adopted his father's surname rather than his mother's, Velma Hardesty, as he did not see anything good about her and saw his father as an actual parent. While he often saw his half-siblings, he avoided his mother as much as possible (and vice versa). Despite his disdain for Velma, Lang disapproved of anyone calling her a whore as a favor to his siblings.
