Georgia is a state in the Southern United States. It was one of the Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution and was the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution.
Georgia in Trail of Glory[]
Georgia was a hotbed of expansionism in the early 19th Century. The Creek War (1813-1814) and the Arkansas War both partially stemmed from various factions in Georgia seeking to move west. In the latter conflict, there were other entities that sought to build on these factions for their own purposes.
During the 1824 presidential election, Georgia initally went to William H. Crawford. However, certain of Crawford's supporters delivered the state to Henry Clay when the election was decided in the House of Representatives.
