Gwaihir "Gerry" Stone was the youngest of the three Stone brothers. Gerry's "Stop-sign Red" hair was almost proof positive that he was not the biological son of Tom Stone. Gerry's stoned mother simply could not remember anyone else's last name when it was time to fill out the birth certificate. Tom nonetheless raised Gerry as his own.
While in Italy with his brothers, he became involved in the "plan" to rescue Galileo Galilei, and played a role in foiling Michel Ducos's plan to assassinate Pope Urban VIII. In doing so, he unintentionally shot Marius Pontigrazzi at close range, killing him.
He was deeply affected by this, and after returning from Italy, he decided to attend the Latin school in Rudolstadt rather than finish high school in Grantville, and planned to study theology at the university in Jena.
Gerry was part of a group of redheads tasked with Henri de Rohan to smuggle her daughter out of Gaston occupied France into the County of Burgundy. After succeeding in that task, the redheads continue to serve the Rohan family.
