Don Joseph Nasi (1524–1579) was a Spanish-born Jewish diplomat and administrator, member of the House of Mendes, and influential figure in the Ottoman Empire during the rules of both Sultan Suleiman I and his son Selim II.
"Nasi", meaning "prince" in the Hebrew language, was likely (given his station) a cognomen at the start which developed into a family name in succeeding generations.
Joseph Nasi in 1632[]
Joseph Nasi had been dead for some time when the Ring of Fire desposited the town of Grantville in the past. However, his grandson, Francisco Nasi, became a very important political figure in the emerging United States of Europe.
Mike Stearns described Nasi as essentially the Foreign Minister of the Ottoman Empire.
