Karl Jurgen Edelmann was the guildmaster of Jena. He had one daughter, Magdelena, who was well past "marrying age" when Grantville appeared in Germany. Magdalena was courted by Tom "Stoner" Stone, until Herr Edelmann learned that Stone was in fact quite poor, unlike most residents of Grantville. However, true love won out, and Stone did marry Magdalena.
