Count Ludwig Günther of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt was a sovereign ruler of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and the ancient House of Schwarzburg (1581–1646). He inherited the dignity of his office September, 1630, after the death of his older brother Karl (Charles).

Ludwig Günther was the first sovereign nobleman aware of the town from the future, Grantville. A chunk of the old family seat at Schwarzburg overlapped the Ring of Fire and went forward to the year 2000. About ten citizens of Schwarzburg lost their lives in the RoF event. He found Grantville troubling for these reasons, among others.
He later organized a debate, the Rudolstadt Colloquy, about the new church he had built primarily to serve the Lutheran population that had emigrated to Grantville as war refugees.[1]
He married Emelie of Oldenburg-Delmenhorst, but five years earlier than he did in the OTL; they married in 1633.
Unusually for a member of the German Hochadel, he was affiliated with the Fourth of July Party, having decided that he would rather try to be a restraining influence within the FoJP than try to be a moderating influence within the Crown Loyalists.
In editorial cartoons, he was caricatured as wearing a backwards baseball cap, even though he had only done so once.[2]
