The Territory of Mississippi was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from April 7, 1798, until December 10, 1817. The borders of the territory contained at one time the present U.S. states of Mississippi and Alabama.

The Mississippi Territory became the epicenter of the Creek War in 1813. While war was definitively won by the United States in 1814, events had taken place that would eventually give birth to the Confederacy of the Arkansas.
