Ollie Reardon owned the smallest machine shop in Grantville. After the Ring of Fire, his business grew in importance. Like the other shops, however, Reardon did not have a substantial amount of steel stockpiled.
When Mike Stearns assembled his cabinet, he briefly contemplated appointing Reardon, as Stearns believed Reardon would be easy to work with. However, since Reardon also owned the smallest shop, Stearns instead chose Nat Davis, the owner of Grantville's largest shop.
Nonetheless, as the year progressed, Reardon played an important role in the success of Grantville. He became one of several proponents of a new chemical plant. In April, 1632, he oversaw the assembly of shipment of firearms that were to be shipped to Gustavus Adolphus.
