Operation Krystalnacht was the elimination of organized anti-Semitism and witch-hunting from the United States of Europe. While it was not officially a government action, it was supported by outgoing Prime Minister Michael Stearns and relied on information that had been gathered by Francisco Nasi's intelligence operation.
The operation came in response to the anti-Semitic rioting staged by Huguenot followers of Michel Ducos, which was popularly blamed for the deaths of Henry Dreeson and Enoch Wiley. (Only a few people knew that they had been assassinated by a follower of Ducos.) The operation was carried out by the Committees of Correspondence. Stearns and Nasi consciously named Operation Krystalnacht after the pogrom Kristallnacht that took place throughout Nazi Germany and parts of Austria in November 1938 in the original timeline. Nasi first suggested the name much to Stearns' reluctance. The CoC, including its leaders Gretchen Richter, Gunther Achterhof, and Spartacus, liked the name but did not understand the meaning.
In most of the provinces of the Germanies, such as Pomerania, the CoC were peacefully led into carrying out Krystalnacht. In Hesse-Kassel, all they had to do was hand a list to Landgrave Wilhelm V, as he and his wife had no truck with anti-Semites and witch-hunters, and wanted to be rid of them anyway.
Other provinces were directly part of one or another anti-Semitic organization which were on the CoC's list.
The province of Mecklenburg became the first scene of intense bloodshed. Mecklenburg's nobility generally despised the Committees, were not about to allow them to operate in their territory, and tried to oppose them. However, the Mecklenburg aristocracy lacked a military. Even so, they were able to force the CoC columns into the towns until the unofficial involvement of the USE Air Force based in Wismar forced a stalemate. This allowed time for the CoC leadership to send in reinforcements, many of which were armed with SRG rifles. This led to the Battle of Güstrow in which the CoC forces were, again, unofficially assisted by the USE Air Force. Some of the Mecklenburg aristocracy was killed and the rest were driven out of their province.
The Province of the Main also saw violence, but on a smaller scale. The Rhineland, a hotbed of anti-Semitism, was thoroughly "purged". Here that included peasants and low level Lutheran clerics and Catholic priests.
Frankfurt, notable for having mobs attacking the Jewish quarters in the ghettos, was directly policed by the CoC.
Vincenz Weitz and his followers were killed at a crossroads north of Amberg.
The purge was not wholly accepted by some citizens of the United States of Europe. This included, but was not limited to, some elements within the Crown Loyalists.
