Simon Jones was a Methodist minister in Grantville. He was good friends with Father Lawrence Mazzare, a Catholic priest. The two frequently discussed theological matters while repairing cars.
Jones was Jeff Higgins's minister. He married Higgins and Gretchen Richter on July 4, 1631 in Mazzare's church, as the Methodist church was too small for the number of people who wanted to attend. Both clergymen had discussed the upcoming marriage beforehand.
At Mazzare's request, he became part of the embassy to Venice. Later. when Mazzare was summoned to Rome in order to defend Galileo, Jones went along, again at Mazzare's request.
