Thomas Carew (1590 – 1672?), also Carue, known to history as Carve due to his use of the Latinate spelling, was chaplain to a Walter Butler, possibly Walter Butler of Roscrea, and later to Walter Devereux.
He is known for having written an itinerary of his travels during the Thirty Years' War.
Thomas Carew in 1632[]
As in the OTL, Thomas Carew kept an itinerary of his travels. This was discovered in May 1635, following the capture of Dennis MacDonald, and was presumably used as evidence against Butler, MacDonald, Walter Devereaux, and Robert Geraldin. Carew himself was not captured.[n 2]
