Thuringia

Thuringia is a state of Germany. It was a state of the Holy Roman Empire until the 13th century, when it was divided into several smaller states by various members of the House of Wettin. From then until the 20th century, Thuringia was not a single political unit, but rather a name for a collection of smaller entities. It was reconstituted after World War I.

Thuringia in 1632[]

After Grantville was sent into the past, the region of Thuringia became the nucleus of the growing New United States. Realizing the inevitable, Wilhelm, Duke of Saxe-Weimar gave up all claim to the territory. It quickly developed the strongest economy war-ravaged Germany. In 1633, Thuringia became the State of Thuringia in the new United States of Europe, and became part of the State of Thuringia-Franconia after the people of Franconia voted to join with it.
