USS Carolina was a United States Navy schooner. Her keel was laid down at Charleston, South Carolina. She was purchased by the Navy while still on the stocks, launched on November 10, 1812, and commissioned on June 4, 1813. She saw action throughout the War of 1812, most prominently in the weeks before the Battle of New Orleans. On December 23, 1814, she bombarded British positions near the Mississippi River, to devastating effect. The British made a concentrated effort to destroy her, successfully setting her afire on December 27, 1814. After the crew successfully abandonded ship, the Carolina exploded.
