Urbain de Maillé-Brézé (1597 - February, 13 1650), was a Marshal of France during the Thirty Years' War and Franco-Spanish War (1635). He was married to Nicole du Plessis-Richelieu, who was the sister of Cardinal Richelieu.
Urbain de Maillé-Brézé was a member of Vicomte Turenne's inner circle. He was both liked and respected by Turenne's other officers for his personality and for his talents and great accomplishments. Unlike so many other figures in the French military establishment, Urbain never exhibited any hostility and jealousy toward Turenne and in fact volunteered for Turenne's force on his own initiative - a decision which most of the French officer corps had considered insane at the time.
