Vincent de Paul (24 April 1581 – 27 September 1660) was a Catholic priest dedicated to serving the poor, and a Catholic saint. He was canonized in 1737.

Vincent de Paul in 1632[]

Grantville's only Catholic church was named St. Vincent de Paul after the canonized priest. When the town was transported to the 17th century, "St. Vincent de Paul Church" had to be renamed to "St. Mary's" as de Paul was still alive at that time.

In spring 1633, Vincent de Paul was invited as a guest to a dinner hosted by Lady Marie de Gournay. During the dinner, it was also attended by Up-timer Josh Modi, who was very surprised in seeing de Paul while always keeping in mind that de Paul hadn't been canonized as a sainthood. Throughout the dinner, de Paul related his stories of his captivity as a slave after being captured by Turkish pirates in 1605, which Josh Modi and Colette Dubois find it incredibly fascinating.
