Willie Ray Hudson was a former politician from Grantville and a Korean War vetearn. Hudson was also viewed by many (including Mike Stearns) as the best farmer in Grantville. When Stearns was elected chairman of the Grantville Emergency Committee, he chose Hudson for his cabinet. Hudson was given the position of Chairman of Agriculture Co-ordination and Rationing, where he was tasked with making sure Grantville and the influx of refugees had sufficient food.

While he was initially among those concerned by Jeff Higgins decision to marry refugee Gretchen Richter, he ultimately volunteered to walk Gretchen down the isle at the ceremony. He made good on that promise, but had spent some time getting drunk at the party taking place in town, and had to be dragged back to the church.

Hudson later became an adviser to the State of Thuringia-Franconia Department of Agriculture. He opted not to move to Bamberg, and refused appointment as SoTF Secretary of Agriculture in 1634 on grounds of age.
